Our Story
Tomplait’s Original Bloody Mary Spice Mix was created with the perfect blend of only the finest quality seasonings and spices all combined in a single container to allow a perfect Bloody Mary ever time, without having to unload your spice rack. Make your's the way you like, if you prefer spicy just add a few extra drops, if not-so-spicy is for you simply use a little less. Experiment until you have yours just how you like it. My wife likes 5 shakes, I prefer 9 or 10. That’s one of the advantages, it can be tailored to each individuals desire. And a single 10 oz. bottle can make over 2 gallons of Bloody Marys.
Refrigeration is NOT required. That’s another reason I created Tomplait’s Original Bloody Mary Spice Mix. I have been trying to make the perfect Bloody Mary for many years, so it became that any time someone wanted a Bloody Mary I was the one asked to make it, which I never minded but when you’re in a crowd it can sometimes cut into enjoying your own Bloody Mary.
I remember spending Thanksgivings at my wife's Grandparents in Karnack, TX on Lake Caddo and everybody would be there. All of the aunts and uncles, cousins, and always several friends. Little Mamaw loved her Bloody Mary's, especially if I made them. We were younger then so late night parties with the cousins were always in order, except for Little Mamaw and Papaw, they were early to bed early to rise. It never failed that when it seemed like I had just gone to bed (it was actually more like 7 am) when Mamaw would come wake me up. She wasn't shy, or quite, and always asked the same thing "Are you gonna sleep all day or are you gonna get up and fix me a Bloody Mary?" She had already had her coffee, fixed breakfast for the other early risers and all of the grandkids, and had probably been up since not long after we went to bed. I would always drag myself out of bed and go fix her a Bloody Mary, and everybody else would want one too. That's when I decided to start making it a pitcher at a time.
So after a while we discovered that making a pitcher(s) of Bloody Marys worked fine. That is unless you didn’t finish the entire pitcher. Then it required refrigeration and after a day or so it didn’t taste the same and was just a waste. Now you can buy single serving sizes of Clamato or tomato juice, add Tomplait's Original Bloody Spice Mix and have a single serving, or as many as you want (responsibly of course) all made individually to suit you and your taste, and it won’t take up all your valuable refrigerator space.
If only I had created Tomplait's Original Bloody Spice Mix back then I might have gotten a lot more sleep, but then again I would have missed a lot of great memories with Little Mamaw. I sure wish I could fix Little Mamaw another Bloody Mary. Seldom do I have one that I don't think of her and raise a glass. It also makes a great marinade for your favorite meats. Great on steaks, burgers, ribs, baked beans, etc. Try it on anything you'd typically use marinades or sauces.
Tomplait's Original Michelada Spice Mix
Since we enjoy an ice cold Michelada occassionally, and with very similar ingredients as a Bloody Mary, I decided to try Tomplait's Original Bloody Mary Spice Mix in my Michelada. It was pretty good but it still needed a little something else. Since we'd been making our Micheladas for years, like we had our Bloody Marys, we knew just what the missing ingredient was. So we added those ingredients to our Bloody Mary Spice Mix, put them in a bottle and Tomplait's Original Michelada Spice Mix was born.
